The US military struck Iranian launchers on Larak Island — the first US strike on Iran in several weeks — as armed drone and missile exchanges spread to Jordan and possibly the UAE.

US-Saudi Nuclear Deal & Middle East Arms Race

  • US struck two Iranian launchers on Larak Island, the first US strike on Iran in several weeks, per US officials (4 outlets, uncontested). The targeted rockets were armed with sea mines (3 outlets).
  • Iran's Hormuz restriction now reported by 3 outlets, up from 1.
  • Contested — Iran's reach beyond Iran: Iran reportedly attacked US bases in Jordan (King Hussein and Al Azraq) and assets at Al Menhad airbase in the UAE (1 outlet). Iran's state TV claimed an UAE airstrike; UAE's Ministry of Defence flatly denied it as unfounded. Explosions near Aqaba, Jordan, following Iranian launches are also reported but unconfirmed.
  • Newly contested: UAE's claim that sounds heard were its own air-defense interceptions — not successful strikes — is now disputed. Separately, CENTCOM's assertion that it has redirected 55 commercial vessels and disabled at least two since reinstating a July blockade is now contested.

USS Abraham Lincoln Crisis & U.S. Military Readiness

  • Larak Island strike carried by 5 outlets but now contested on specifics. IRGC forces were observed preparing to fire toward the Strait of Hormuz beforehand (3 outlets, uncontested).
  • Newly contested: CENTCOM and President Trump's claim that the Strait of Hormuz has been fully cleared of Iranian sea mines is disputed — the mine-clearance assertion is not independently confirmed.

Trump Tariff Wave: Forced Labor & Trade Partners 2026

  • Newly contested: The prediction that a US-Canada no-deal outcome would cut 0.4% from Canada's GDP and eliminate up to 90,000 jobs is now disputed.

ICE Enforcement, Deadly Shootings & Latino Backlash

  • Contested: Sen. Chris Murphy alleged ICE arrested parents at Connecticut bus stops; DHS's Tom Homan denied any documented school-area arrests over the past two years. One outlet, no resolution.
