The IRGC Navy captured a US 'smart' unmanned underwater vessel near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz through a complex intelligence and operational operation, according to the IRGC Navy.
multiple outlets, traced to a single source · Attributed statement · first recorded Sep 8, 3:30 PM
Outlets disagree on this: The Washington Post, citing U.S. military officials, reports the captured drone was defective, lacked secretive technology, and the incident was insignificant, while the IRGC (per Press TV and prior reporting) describes the capture as a significant demonstration of Iranian surveillance capability over the Strait of Hormuz.
Although several outlets carry this claim, their reporting traces back to a single shared source — so it counts as one confirmation, not several.
